Developed by Aerofoam Metals Inc., Aerometal™ is an exciting new material designed to be utilized in a range of products limited only by ones imagination. It is the company's expectation that given the extraordinary advantages of the material, thousands of worldwide products will eventually contain Aerometal™ as a total or vital ingredient in its composition.

Used as a basic component to manufacture closed-cell foamed aluminum, Aerometal™ lends itself to an almost limitless variety of configurations and applications.

In production, Aerometal™ is placed in a mold and flows through a heated chamber causing the Aerometal™ to foam and expand, thereby filling the mold. The mold is then cooled and the foamed aluminum product removed as a finished product or ready for secondary processing.

Properties of Foamed Aluminum

The chemical and physical properties of foamed aluminum is essentially identical to that of aluminum metal. The characteristics of aluminum are enhanced with the addition of the material now being lightweight and encompassing the following features:

bacteria/mold resistant
shock/impact absorbing
sound insulating
electromagnetic shielding
thermally conductive
rodent/termite resistant
recyclable
The surface texture of the finished foamed aluminum product can be modified by simply changing the mold. Once the product has been molded and baked, it is suitable for most metal finishing processes such as:

polishing
anodyzing
painting
special coatings

Potential Applications

Aerometal™ is approximately 16% the weight of solid aluminum and 6% the weight of steel. It's strength, durability, water resistance, energy absorbent properties, aversion to colour change, design flexibility, colour and texture, provide the opportunity to produce a wide range of finished components.

Applications can be made in construction, vehicular, aerospace, furniture and a host of other industries.
